shipping or air freight/container prices
Hi
Can anyone give me an idea of how much half or a whole shipping/air container would be from Eng to NZ? I just want a general idea of costs and times?
Thanks Viv

Re: Choice of removalist
Be careful when choosing companies. We were told 6-8 weeks to get our belongings to Perth, but our gear has only just left Auckland, eleven weeks on! So it'll be 15-16 weeks before we see our gear. Make sure that the removal company abides by its contract and avoid World Moving.

If you get a sole use container it'll be quicker, a shared one means they have to fill the other half: and deliver it somewhere else possibly. That takes more time.....

Re: shipping or air freight/container prices
If you take enough to fill a whole shipping container (exclusive use) they come generally in 20ft or 40ft (20ft is roughly a single garage sized) and as it's just your belongings going they work to your dates and with sailing time, collection, customs clearance and delivery you would be looking at about 7-9 weeks to be on the safe side.
If you want to take less then a groupage service is more economical whereby you only pay for the space in a container you take up, and the removal company will fill the rest of it with the belongings of customers heading for your same destination. Timescales on this can very, if you're the last customer filling up a container it can be almost as quick as exclusive use, if you're the first it will take longer as you have to wait for other jobs to be booked and collected, generally this can be 10-12 weeks on average.
Air shipments are a whole other ball game, they are much quicker, but will cost more so are usually only useful for a small quantity of items, or things you need very quickly.
All good moving companies will offer you a free, no obligation site visit and survey so they can assess how much you need to take and your requirements and recommend the best method of shipping and give you an accurate idea of price for YOUR move as one move can vary hugely from another - so take advantage of this service and get a few companies in to compare! Always look for FIDI and BAR overseas members for financial security and quality - especially in today's market!!
Hope that helps?
