Sending parcels from the UK
My mam is going to send a parcel of things to us for christmas - can anyone recommend the cheapest and best way to do this - it doesn't have to be the quickest way!

my uncle sent a 7kg parcel from uk to nz last week with the post office: £100! there was only a marginal saving for the much slower surface mail option
for my own mini-move (only clothes and books really) i am looking at around £90 each for what is known as a "tea chest" - a large carton. tnt magazine advertises quite a lot of different companies offering this

Often the cheapest way is to use the 'Small Packet' rate at the PO (either air or surface), this is limited to 2kg per packet but it's often cheaper to send 2 or 3 packets just under 2kg than one larger one.
