School Fees.
We will be going to NZ on a work visa as OH skill is on ISSL but not actually classed as a skill, if you no what mean.
I have been told to apply for student visa for the kids, but another site that Roger looked at last night states we have to pay for the schooling at an extortinate rate. Something like $200 per week for each child
Can someone please tell me if this is the case because the OH has taken such a back step because of it, I wouldn't be surprised if he took the house of the market. Honest.
Really really anxious now.............please help

I have no kids, but I really don't think this is the case. Rog has been given a bum steer i think.
Our Hungarian friends have been here for two and a half years on a work permit. They have two kids. If they had to pay $400 bucks a week for their kids to go to school it would wipe them out. Dad only earns just over $600 per week as it is. Mum, just $450.
I do know that they have what is called voluntary contributions to school coffers.
Hopefully someone with kids will be along shortly.

If the children have student visa then no fees other than the contributory ones.

Re: School Fees.
Thankfully they are not tertiary students. If you had university-aged children and you were on a work permit you'd be stuck with paying the international student fees. So yeah, once over here and working, get that PR permit before your progeny get ready to enrol in university or polytech.

Re: School Fees.
We pay around $40 per term per child, so thats 40 x 4 x 3 = OUCH!!!!
Then there's the uniform, (more expensive for girls) the Pinnie alone was $100and is dry clean only. We have to buy all books, pencils, glue sticks etc...Plus there was an extra $30 charge per child for something or other, think it was to cover things like catching the bus to local things like say the museum, and if they have puppet shows or things that come to the school.

just been down to daughters school to buy her school uniform,$430 still have to buy shoes.but also payed what they class as donation per year $150 per family,so you can have 3 children at same school and still only pay $150.they stressed its not compulsary but the school does depend on it.hope this information helps

Re: School Fees.
the fees are donations but there is a general expectation that you will pay, uniform costs vary - for our school, we kitted son out with 2 prs shorts, 2 t's, 2 prs trousers, 2 sweatshirts for about $150 all in - no set footwear and no sports kit and if you buy from nominated supplier the school gets a % back. also, our school holds a supply of 2nds that are free - you just go help yourself.
