We are starting to expand our search to south Auckland based on feedback from my new boss. He recommended Karaka Lakes as a nice area and while it does look really nice it would mean my daughter going to Rosehill College. Does anyone have any experience of the school- good or bad?

It ranks schools on their academic performance, which is obviously an important factor.

Rosehill on that list is 55th out of 83 which isn't amazing but better than some others in the area. You could have a look at the ERO reports too (like OFSTED)

I went there in the late 1970's and I turned out ok!

There is a fee paying independent school nearby called Strathallan. Worth a look if you are not on a budget. If you're looking at Karaka then I'm guessing you have a few $$$. I know some people on this forum have sent their kids there. I think they were fairly positive.

Presumably you have checked out the affordability of houses down there?

We once got all the brochures and bumf as I thought it looked nice - however quickly realised it was a no go when we saw the starting figures began with $8xxk and the prices have gone up considerably since them
