Renting in auckland
1) How hard is it to find unfurnished rented accommodation in Auckland. we will be packing up a 3 bed house and garage full of stuff!
2) Does anyone know the commuting times From Torbay to Auckland
Starship hospital?

Re: Renting in auckland
Most rentals are unfurnished, if you get here and need some basics until your stuff arrives on the ship then it is also easy and cheap to rent the basics for a few weeks.
Commuting time from the shore to Starship will depend on the time of day you are travelling, but it can take an hour just to get across the bridge in rush hour - off peak though I'm sure you could do the whole journey in 20 mins, though I'm sure someone else with more local knowledge will chip in with their experiences too...

If you need to rent electrical items until your shipping arrives, I would thouroughly reccomend Mr Rental. We rented a microwave and washing machine and had efficient service with no problems.

Have a look at trademe.co.nz under property there are some rentals there and names of agencies you can have a look at. The Starship is a wonderful hospital, fantastic concept and we were really happy with the care our daughter received there. I also lived previously in Torbay, and there are some lovely places there. Quite a lot to rent, there are a few people on here that rent there.

Re: Renting in auckland
I have been looking at trade me for rentals. I finally found a home we would like. (we are moving to Meadowbank) And I am not allowed to access Trade Me because I am not in NZ. We have to be in NZ by May!!! Any suggestions? Can I give a false address?

We registered with our UK address but used Auckland postcode 1310, when you get here you can 'authenticate' your membership with something being sent to your address, so it just means until then you won't be authenticated, but that doesn't mean anything until you start trading, and even then you can trade without, its just reassuring people. (you get a little star by your name!). Hope that helps!
