Default Rental Costs

We hope to be looking for a rental in the Wellington area starting the beginning of Feb. Can anyone give me a ballpark figure of what I should expect to pay, based upon our income, number of bedrooms etc

Depends on the proximity to the CBD, but upwards of $450 per week for a 4 bedroomed house is about the norm. Check them out on trademe...

Any suggestions

Can I make a suggestion – you are arriving at exactly the time that students are requiring accommodation. Students often look for accommodation in the Newtown, Mt Cook and Berhampore areas (ie the places near the hospital). You may want to see if you can contact some rental agents as soon as possible (before you arrive) in order to arrange a rental. Also, don’t think that by being employed that you are looking to budget more than a student for rent. Some may live in scuzzy fleapits but there are a lot of them living in some quite decent places. So it is *very* competitive at that time of the year.
