Re: The Rant Thread
We need another weather thread for when it's scorchio and freezio all at once.
Tuesday: 33
Wednesday: 40
Fair enough.
But Wednesday morning (i.e. between the two highs above) 6 flamin' degrees! Does it do that sort of thing in NZ as well?

Re: The Rant Thread
Aaaah found you
Time for another rant at this!!!
http://www.stuff.co.nz/the-press/new...iting-too-long
This is up there in the most load of bollocks i've ever heard.
Make the flashing red man faster, WTF! It goes quick enough as it is. Has this person ever attempted to cross Moorhouse Avenue, Fitzgerald Avenue, Bealey Avenue or any other road where there's 8 lanes and no middle intersection?
How on earth can lets say an old person for example get across within that time! For goodness sake, they cannot walk the same sort of speed as Usain Bolt.
Actually pointing that out, it does seem that the car drivers think that all pedestrians should walk the speed of Usain Bolt or Ben Johnson on steroids. How on earth can we do that?
If you are wanting to change the system, then stop it for 30 seconds to 1 minute and make it a go for all pedestrians. Not 5 seconds green flash and then 5 more seconds - especially on large roads
An absolutely pathetic idea, obviously one of these the car is king people. Is waiting at a junction for a few minutes to allow a pedestrian to cross really going to make such a huge difference to get to your destination? Try getting stuck behind some slow coach doing 30kmh on a 50 - that's far more frustrating than waiting someone to cross
Plus, most of the drivers seem to ignore this rule anyway. Almost got taken out by one when crossing whilst on the flashing red man. I swear I should take a 4 iron or something with me when going on walk. Then the next driver to do that gets a huge dent or a window smash for not following the rules.

Re: The Rant Thread
No consolation I know but there were crate loads of them at 3 for $3 in Pak & Save yesterday. Quite obviously they were that price for a reason though, well past their best, sodden wet and possibly had been frozen, or near to it.

Re: The Rant Thread
Where I am in America red peppers cost $3.99 each which is NZ$4.73 [and then they add tax on top when you get to the till]
Don't believe the myth that America is a cheap place to live

Re: The Rant Thread
Good lord, that's expensive even without the tax. I bought a red pepper for 2 ringgits today... That's about NZD 0.78.
