Default quick road trip

well back from our road trip up to Auckland.
Stayed over at Oasis Motel in Taupo, bit rough round the edges but kids loved the heated swimming pool. Didn't use the shared facilities at the hotel next door but would use again and try them.
Up SH1 some lovely sites and this country is just beautiful. Arrived in Epsom, Auckland. Cornwall Park Motor Home was very well presented albeit a bit expensive and it is the only place that I have encountered cockroaches since arriving in NZ but apparently "thats what you get in Auckland".
Traffic : Auckland City is not for us, took us 35mins to travel a distant that the sat nav said should of taken 3 due to traffic.
Did drive through a few suburbs, Mission Bay looked nice but it was hacking it down so didn't really get much of a look.
Now a place that did impress was Devonport but a million+ plus for a decent sized family home not achievable but it did have the best view of Auckland, across the harbour
Did the usual tourist attractions, except the Sky Tower, kids not interested in going up it and hubby had already done it so just walked around and visited the shop.
Went to the harbour and walked around just found everything is just so built up and big and people just seem to be in a hurry.
Travelled back down SH31 and we thought the views up on SH1 were lovely this is a MUST drive down. the views are just breathtaking and a lot more geology to look at.
Stopped off in Stratford in Taranaki, Amity Court Motel, what a gem of a place would highly recommend and the best of the 3 we stayed in. Taranaki is again another area that has the most amazing vista's and is somewhere we will be going back to to explore more.
