premium rate texts
It's quite common now for hair salons, dentists, etc to send text reminders for appointments. Great idea. However, they often require you to reply by typing 'Y'. I never realised that these were then charged as premium rate texts till I saw my bill!

! How bloody rude, they could at least warn you! And seems perfect in the days of paperless bills to rip people off.
