Re: Prejudice
It was nothing nasty and taken and given in good taste.
The following is a typical email link I would be sent, enjoy.

Re: Prejudice
I haven't experienced any prejudice in the year I have been here. My other half said the same. I have quite a front facing job role and come into contact with lots of people on a daily basis and haven't had any comments about where I am from. A girl at work said "aww your accent is so cute", which I found strange as a Pommy accent isn't uncommon in Chch!
I feel for people who have had bad experiences. I remember an incident where a bus driver had all sorts of insults thrown at him because he was from another country. It was horrible. Human beings can be very cruel.

Re: Prejudice
I've experienced it twice, one was work related and the other was at Christchurch hospital. That shocked me
Needless to say thank goodness for Southern Cross Hospital

All the time, particularly as we're a mixed race couple, one NZ and one UK. And we're mixed sexual too. One woman, one man.

Re: Prejudice
I've had a few vindictive comments whilst down south, that we (all migrants) are taking all the jobs, can just walk into the country, migrants come over with with lots of money and increase the cost of housing etc. Fair point maybe, but we arrived with only $5k in the bank and only our hopes/aspirations. If you don't want our skills and 30 odd years of tax revenue then fine, perhaps having 9 kids and no job would be a better model of migrant.
Really? That's not the average NZ'ers viewpoint. You may have met a dud.
And I'll do the usual NZ thing and apologise profusely for existing, and explain we're not all that bad.

I know 99.9% of kiwis are great, she was just very small minded unlike the vast majority.

Want prejudice? Check out this bloke.
Bloke in the UK. Talking about banning Dominoes Pizza and rattling on about "posts in the UK".
Blokes is part of the reason I am leaving the UK.
Narrow minded, uncouth idiots.

Tee shirts with "Punch a Pom a day" logo were popular a couple of decades ago.

As a non-native speaker I think that Kiwis do need to work on their attitude towards foreigners. Kiwis sometimes change their tone of voice when they learn I am German. Sudd enly they start speaking loudly and harshly as if they are soldiers. It is embarrassing to witness this kind of behaviour. If I offer my opinion on things I had a team leader at work answering me 'JAWOHL, JA, veee will do it' - yelling across the whole ****ing floor and all my co-workers started laughing.
A French friend is being called the frogby Kiwis. Not so nice... still ways to go.

Many Kiwis haven't travelled that widely. Many of them only know what they see in the movies or on telly. Many of us were also influenced by crappy British 70s and 80s sitcoms, like 'Allo Allo... and many of us will take the mickey, in order to put you in your place and remind you whose turf you're on. It's a fine line between banter and bullying. Beneath all that, with some, I feel it's a cultural inferiority complex of sorts.
I'd take almost anything designed and made in Germany over anything made in New Zealand... except sushi, perhaps. Love Germany. Had many amazing holidays there as a child and hope to get back there again soon.
