Post Natal Depression
After the birth of my children I suffered quite badly with PND and I was just wondering whether I have to submit this on my husband's EOI
(he has 195 points)? I was treated by a doctor with AD for a few months than I was fine. I suppose my concern is that it may be viewed negatively. By the way Im in my 40's now so no more babies and no more PND. Any advice would be gratefully appreciated.

Hey ahoney,
As cleopatra has rightly said.. its VERY common. No-one is going to look badly on a spell of PND. ALL the mums i know (including myself) suffered from it after their kids, so it aint an issue.
Not too sure what you should write, but if it was me i would just give dates and treatment given. i.e. jan - july - treated with a course of anti-depressants, depressive episode overcome. (or something along those lines).
I really wouldnt worry about it at all.
Good luck

I had depression in the 2 years running up to the application. Came off the AD's just before the meds. I had to have a specialist report done but all good.
Please don't worry about it.
They are not looking for perfection, just concerned about long term care costs which are irrelevant in your case!
Best wishes!

Re: Post Natal Depression
Hi ahoney
The best thing to do is declare your PND on the EOI and when you go for your medical take a letter from your doctor stating when you had your PND, the lenght of time you were ill, the course of treatment you had, the outcome of that treatment and the lilelyhood of it happening again. I know you said no more babies but just to be sure they understand the reason for the PND and the AD's (not saying case officers are a bit thick but just cover the base).
I was asked for a review of my medical condition even though the doctor at the medical said I did not need one.
Just have it ready.
