I can't add any words of wisdom, some great advice has already been given & there's nothing that I can think of to add. But just wanted to let you know that I'm thinking of you and I hope that things work out for the best for you. It's definitely a tough experience for you...and for your parents & siblings too I have absolutely no doubt, but I'm sure you'll work your way through it. Good luck, and do keep posting.

Jack what a wonderful son you are, your parents & family will be so proud of your comments when they read them no matter how heartbreaking.

Well done for being independent & making your own choices, yes we all make ones that turn out to be the wrong ones but unless we make them we cannot possibly know that. At least you will never have the argument with your parents "YOU MADE ME COME!".........

As previous posts have said stay strong, try to eat and everything will workout. The flat, work etc are just problems to overcome not impenetrable obstacles.

Big hug to you & a huge thank you as I will also be leaving older children behind (25 & 26 yes still my babes ) and I will if you dont mind show them your posts as its is such an honest show of emotion.

Good luck to you XX

Ah Jack,
All my sympathies mate. Sat here as an overweight "30-something" Manc I'm filling up for you, must be one hell of a tough time.
All I would advise is that you take your time over things. The emotional turmoil you're going through doesn't create the best conditions to make a big decision about where you want your life to be.
Try and enjoy your freedom and your life for for a while, (you can live the perfect carefree life for a while, with a well paid job and your own pad, and no parents telling you what to do) and see how that pans out.
Then in a few months, fly down and see the folks, and if you love the place (you will like it, I promise you that much at least, but you'll have to work out if you want to live there), then follow them down to live.
I just think it's important that you divorce the emotions of missing your family from the decision of where you want to live your life. That way, if you do decide to live down here, you'll have made that decision for the right reason.
All the best mate!!!

I'm back on now. Thanks for every comment, just talking to people who truly understand what I'm going through, Really helps me feel better. The reason I'm using my parents account is that I only have internet access in work at the moment until my flat is sorted and hotmail isn't allowed on our computers. I registered yesterday but I couldn't get to my account activation E-Mail. I always noticed my parents on these forums so I thought I'd seek some advice on passing the time til I can see them again, so I decided to start using these forums. My mum gave me their password so she must have known how much they help. Really - Huge Thank You to everyone who has posted.

Hi Jack, really feel for you and as a mum I could give you a big hug Make the most of the time you spend here and go to NZ with excitement and joy. You gave staying here a shot and you should be proud of that. Hope you get there soon. Keep your chin up, Bevissa

Ok so here's a little update, Up to now; I recieved a message from my mother at 04:45 UK time to say that they had arrived in Dubai, 07:45 Dubai time and it was 40 degrees C. Then that they had to wait 2 hours till their second flight to Sydney. 10:15 i recieved a message saying that they had a minimum 4 and a half hour delay due to an Aircraft fault in Dubai. I'm not sure exactly when they arrive in Sydney but i vagely remember mention of a 14 hour flight so anytime now i expect a message. Then a short 5hour hop over to Auckland. Feeling a lot better, eating etc.... going to the Everton v Arsenal game tommorow and if all goes to plan the team in blue win and I'll feel even better. Can't wait to hear from them to see how everything is going, and I plan to be there for christmas.

Good to see you're feeling a bit better, getting out will help Enjoy the match tomorrow!

If you're thinking of going over for Xmas then enjoy this time you have living on your own and having to cope for yourself. You're young with a flat to yourself and no parents telling you what to do-have fun!
Having a timescale for going over to NZ will help as you have something to look forward to, there's a goal to aim for. But; don't count down the days till you go, appreciate this time with your friends and family that are still there. You never know, you may find that your decision to stay in the UK was the right one.
So your parents should be arriving in Auckland very soon [ that's if I've worked out the times, this time difference can be a bugger!] and it will be so much easier to speak to them when they're settled rather than from various airports across the globe!

I've been reading this thread with interest and compassion.

Jack - you come across as a lovely young man, one any parent would be proud to call their son.

I can't add anything to all the sound advice you've already had, other than to say, I am sure once they have arrived here and you've had a chance to talk to them and discuss how you feel, lay some plans down, you're bound to feel better.

Best of luck hun and carry on posting whenever you want a friendly ear ...

There's probably not a mother of a son on here who doesn't want to give you cuddle Don't look on this as a bad thing - it's going to have the best possible outcome I'm reminded of this though

Morning Jack, did you go out on the lash last night? I hope so. I'm sure no self respecting 19 yr old would have stayed in last night with parents out of the road....no matter how upset

Love Auntie Mia x
Oh and when you have a minute, pick those clothes up of the floor

Batty, I love that quote, so good. I also love your glow worm saying, always makes me smile. x

Hey Jack I too cannot add anythng extra than those that already have, only that if you could see the state of my face right now i am sure without a doubt it would make you smile as it has sooooo many tear tracks right now from reading your thread, and what a mess I look I too have 2 sons and cannot imagine what you you and your family are goign through right now, although all I can say Jack, is when they read your passages, they will for sure be so proud of you!!!! Keep your chin up, and as all the others have said, please please keep using this site to let us know how you are and just keep writing if it helps. A hug from another mum as I am sure that if it was me in your families situation your mum would be sending hugs to my son at this emotional time.
Keep safe, warm and eat well, lol. Tina x

A thought Jack...

If you really want to come, and are worried about immigration, be reassured that you can apply for a woorking holiday visa for one year then see how it goes from there.
Doesn't solve the lease issue but there is always more than one option

Of course it hurts right now...there will be more tears, for sure...but you made a decision to stay for a reason so whatever those reasons were, connect with them, enjoy them and immerse yourself in them for a while

And talk, talk , talk
On here
But more importantly to others around you, to family friends who "get it", mates, people on a park bench, just get it out there so you don't feel alone.

Hugs to you, Jack and stay strong
