Opotiki to Hicks Bay
Has anyone recently travelled the coast road through to Gisborne and then back through stopping off at Lake waikeremoana
Last time I did it was late 1970's
roads were different (or maybe the same)

We drove the whole East Cape coastline Opotiki via Hicks Bay to Gisborne a couple of years ago. The roads are ok but slow, accommodation is scarce (book in advance) unless you are happy to camp and fill up with petrol at every opportunity.

Vehicle can do 1500km with no need to fill up.
