Enough people.
Is there nothing else more important than arguing about food for goodness sakes?
Stop it: stop it now :curse:

The ben and jerrys franchise in NZ is available (or it was a few months ago when I emailed their customer service desk and got myself an "incident number")
Buy the franchise and open a ben and jerrys. Ok i confess: i just want some New York Super Fudge Chunk. Or Fossil Fuel.
Don't care about the quality of the ice cream, or its fat content, or where it is made. I just want little chocolate dinosaurs to eat when i am watching DVDs on a Sunday afternoon. Is that too much to ask?

The cost of the ice cream at B&J vendor stalls tends to be very expensive - can't see it being a popular thing here - though maybe the icecream pots in supermarkets would be.
Actually, the other thing which is popular in Australia is Cold Rock http://www.coldrock.com.au which would i think be popular.

Havent read all this thread so I am probably repeating, but you can get more or less any uk food here. Pak and starve in Sylvia park Auckland have a uk section. Some ex pat popular towns have uk food stores.
Whittakers chocolate is nicer than any I had in the uk and I love cadburys (which you can get here).
The quality of 'proper' food is far superior to the uk. Meat, fish and fruit and veg all taste better as they are truly fresh.
food is more expensive than we expected but if you shop around and use the local veggie shop and the mad butcher (chain of small retailers) you can live well at around the same weekly shopping costs as the uk. However wages are generally lower but other house hold bills are chearer so its swings and roundabouts.

Well I'm new to this thread and forum lark but desperately in need of some curry advice! I've recently moved to Wellington and love it, but just can't find a decent curry anywhere. Have tried a few places and they've all served tasteless 'slop', i.e. all sauce and no ingredients. I'm looking for a good dry, but oily curry, like a typical tandoori tikka masala, the type you'd find in Leeds, Bradford or Birmingham!
Please help!!!! Also if you have any other recommendations of really good places to eat, I like most foods and love eating out.
Thanks

Can't help with the Curry, but will start you with...
Satay Village for Malaysian
Scopa for lovely thin crust Pizza
Zibbibo for Italian style stuff
Hell Pizza of course...
Cafe Neo for big fat brunch menu
Burgerfuel (for a nice burger!)
D4 on Featherston St for something nice but light at lunchtime and/or weekends (I really like their Bacon/Camembert/Sweetcorn Fritters)
Just about ANY cafe in town for good cake!
And STILL looking for decent Mexican grub, Flying Burrito Bros is passable....
