Re: This New Zealand section
Just watched 'Fair Go', the 'That's Life' of NZ TV.
The final segment was a painfully unfunny story (from the Fair Go archives) about some old couple who bought 4 nuns but the nuns were too old...blah blah blah.
Turns out nuns are a type of bird.
The host of the show turned to the camera, smiled, and said that the old couple were a right pair of characters but were dead now. Goodnight!
The famous NZ bluntness? sense of humour?

I don't find the radio (The Rock fm) here boring. They say everything from b*gger, s*it, and w*nker to toss*r, b*stard and c*ck. It's all fine and no one says anything! No Mary Whitehouse here to shout, scream and stamp her feet.
Apparently though, any of that 'Taking God's name in vaie' stuff and your favourite DJ is off the airwaves quicker than you can blink!
Eh!?
Makes me laugh daily at what they get away with

I tell you who is good, Marcus Lush. Love it. Also, John Tamihere and Willy Jackson - love the banter.

I would do some bar work but in the crazy mixed up world of NZ I need a diploma in pulling a pint before anyone will look at me

Considering most of the posters on this forum seem to despise 'immigrants in the UK on Government handouts' you must be neck and neck with bert badger in the 'negative karma' league....

Re: This New Zealand section
A Mongrel Mob member walks into a WINZ office, stomps straight
to the counter and says, "Hey bro, I hate living on the dole eh. I wanna
find a job."
The fella behind the counter replied," Your timing is amazing. We
have just got a job from a very wealthy man who wants a chauffeur /
bodyguard for his sex mad daughter.
You will have to drive around in a big black Mercedes, but the suits,
shirts, and ties are provided. Because there are long hours in this job,
meals will be provided and you will also be required to escort the young
lady on her overseas holidays. The salary package is $200,000 a year."
The Mob member picks his jaw up off the floor and says "You're
bullshitting me bro!"
The man behind the counter looks at him and replies," Well... you
started it...

As far as negativity goes, I simply don't understand how saying why and how living in NZ has not been a good or positive experience can possibly be construed as such. If anything, it's helpful to understand the full range of possibilities and attitudes; it's educational and entertaining.
What can possibly be more "negative" than bullying people off with insults such as "you're not funny" and "we don't want to hear what you have to say, you jerk." I just read a post by someone who's only visited NZ briefly but has already become a converted zealot, wish ill upon a person because of their negativity. And posting a thread ridiculing another person is not just nasty, it's shameful.
What's funny for some is not funny for others, obviously. I've always admired British humor and satire, and their exquisite sense of the absurd. I've also admired British understatement. Unfortunately, I see very little of it here.
NZers are not known for their understatement.
