Hi,
We landed in Auckland on 2nd February, husband and I , plus two teenagers.
Moving into our house in Glendowie next Thursday, kids happy in school and Ed and I both have a job.
Auckland has very much exceeded our expectations, we are settling here and enjoying the weather and the friendliness of people we meet.
BUT, does anyone know of any newcomers club in the area. We are semi happy but basically 'billy no mates'.
I work as an administrator and shall we say the people I work with are quite serious so not really socialising there and it would just be nice to make some friends. We know it's early days, but would be nice to meet up with other people and make some friends.
Thanks any help or advice gratefully appreciated...

Dont get too stressed out, NZ is great but getting to meet people is probably one of the toughest aspects of moving here, especially in Auckland where the city is big enough that people do tend to live "past each other"
Dont get disheartened though, it takes time..
Kiwis are quite sporty, so you might get somewhere signing up for sprts club or sporty event type things.
Otherwise im sure yourll run into lots of friendly peoplpe at the various pubs scattered around the place
cheers

hi,
we also moved to Auckland on the 3/3/06 a family of four, we met up with a friend of a friend ( who has been here 3 yrs), who has steered us in the right direction, we have found mission bay, which is just east of cbd to be a good place as its ex pat area - also browns bay is quite good - they have a UK shop there where you can get some of the foods you miss from home - but be warned you do pay for the privilege of having it sent from home
