The nearly 2 month update
Hello everyone!
So I've been here just about 7.5 weeks now. Settled into new job, settled into new house. It's been a little bit manic and right now I'm feeling a bit insecure and unsettled (all normal I know) the thing is my flatmate has now moved out for half the week to Chch so I am literally all alone here in tiny Timaru and my rent is $400 a month more than I'd budgeted for. I've started to join some groups and stuff but it's all really disrupted due to my shift work and I'm feeling a little friendless.
Right now I am just trying to go through it. I said to myself that I would give it six months whatever the weather so to speak. I don't see that plan changing but I don't like the idea of spending the next few months working or alone in my house.

Hi there LauraI think youre at one of the hardest times. You havent been here long and youll be missing friends and family. Im in Auckland so no help to you at all hun. Sorry
How about the people you work with who are on the same shifts, do they socialise together? Is there any neighbours that you have noticed that are home when you are? Try to keep going and Im sure you will be fine. Dont focus too much on the time limit and dont look too far ahead. I do that often and end up with senarios in my head that dont even happen. 
It does take alot of confidence to try to become friends with new people but Im sure there are lots out there for you to meet. Youve started at the right place coming on here for a start.
