I know this is probably a stupid question but I'm just sat here filling out my application form to go on the NZ Nursing register & it says I need an original police certificate....does this mean a CRB?

Last time I spoke to someone about obtaing a CRB (about a year ago for something unrelated) I was told they could only issue these to the employer! If so, how do I go about getting one? Any ideas?
