Mahinarangi ..... it IS a difficult and long name. Can't believe Mom did not anticipate it would be shortened by some people.
Sad though that the children in the school make fun of the little girl.
Mom is on a crusade as per her comment about her ancestors changing their name to a more English sounding one......

Almost everyone I know is referred to by one of the following
C##ty, Shag, Bollocks, Bud and mush for the men, or Pet and Chuck for the ladies.
saves a lot of hassle with remembering names

My name is only four letters and while I'll admit the pronunciation can be ambiguous people will almost invariable pronounce it wrong even after I've corrected them. Some will even address me by my surname which is western sounding. I've ceased correcting people and just let them say my name however they like.
