Mushy peas!
Got my mushy peas at last
There's a really good brit food shop on Riccarton Road in Christchurch called Bramptins, I visited it this morning and it's got everything from washing powder to chocolate!
I was only interested in buying mushy peas though cos my tastes have changed I think and I don't miss anything else really.

I love that shop - i was in there last week, I got Irn Bru, pot noodle, cadburys buttons (sorry but nz choc just doesn't taste the same) and some REAL coffee....its a home from home. It does cost more but for the little treats its worth it...$12.99 for some bold powder is abit much though !!!

Mmmm...heaven, enjoy them Sky. I love 'em with a sprinkling of mint sauce.
I don't remember them staring up at me from the bowl like that though

Re: Mushy peas!
Just found this recipe for "Minty Mushy Peas" by Jamie Oliver Sounds yummy
This is a fantastic recipe that is so quick and so simple and uses our reliable friends the frozen peas, which work really well here. Great with fish, meat, or even as a vegetarian dish with a big dollop of butter on top.
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 bunch spring onions, chopped
1 handful fresh mint, leaves picked
1 pound (500 grams) frozen peas
2 large knobs butter
Sea salt and freshly ground black pepper
Heat the oil in a pan and add the chopped onions, mint, and peas. Cover and leave for a few minutes to steam. Mash with a potato masher. You can do this with a food processor as well, just pulse it until smooth. Whether mashing or pulsing, when it's done add the butter and season very carefully, to taste.

Drool drool, oh how I wish I could eat pie and mushy peas with mint sauce from the Student Uni at Leeds - the best place for mushy peas on earth.
