Moving to new zealand -HGV driver
 
hi folks just joined the site and am after some info. I am an HGV driver in Scotland and I am wanting to go to New Zealand to do the same thing is it fairly easy to gain employment and what is the best way to go about it? Are the there many companies that would take on uk drivers and can you get a visa easily. Any info that would help would be greatly appreciated many thanks Andy c

You will need to look on websites like Seek and Trademe but also try and contact companies direct.

No is the simple answer to that. You will have to met certain criteria be mainly healthy and have a clear police record. Oh and some money to pay for them to check you out. Look on https://www.immigration.govt.nz/ as a starting point.

Are you looking to try another country, NZ, for a couple of years and then move on or back? Or are you thinking to emigrate permanently ?

For you , as an HGV driver, it would be an NZ job offer first & then you would apply for a work visa.

Yes. NZ companies will take on overseas HGV drivers. The pay is not that good & HGV , as an occupation, doesn't allow you to emigrate permanently. For that you would need to earn $55K pa which is rare for an HGV driver here.
