Men..... in shorts!

Re: Men..... in shorts!
Of course that is your own opinion about yourself, should I show you research that shows people rate their physical attractiveness more highly than others rate them?
The problem with vanity seems to me to be twofold:
1. It's not a productive obsession.
2. No matter how much we detest it for being #1 we can't get over the fact we do judge others on appearances and often we are very successful at it.
So people do dress to conform with the expectations a society or group has about them. If your in the army you wear a uniform, in a company you wear a suit and if you are working as a writer you wear jeans and a t-shirt.
However the other side to this is that when people conform too much to the ideals of a society they become exact replacements for each other based on looks. So in the army you wear more stripes to denote rank, in the corporate world you wear a more expensive and flashy suit/car/pen and successful writers...buy matching socks .
So with social status looks become important but for many people, more interested in their work than their looks, it's not really an accurate guide to success.

My Dad has always called wellingtons 'gum boots' here, don't know why.
I love the more relaxed way of dressing in NZ/OZ, I hate the way some people look down their noses at you in the UK if you're not dressed in the right clothing, so snobby!

I'm glad they don't call flip flops 'thongs', jandals sounds better.

I’m scared, hypothetically these people are still eligible for passports and tourist visas right?

Re: Men..... in shorts!
Looking nice makes you feel good, However, new years eve me and OH invited to a party, as i would have done in UK i put on me best dress, hair done, spray tan, nails, the works. Turned up everyone was wearing joggies , hoodies, shorts teashirts. I said omg i am a bit overdressed compared to you lot. I quickly got a lot of funny looks and one said whats that supposed to mean we are dressed. i quickly changed to fit in. This was wrong Right?
Now Im thinking of selling all me designer dresses and clothes from uk on trademe a dont get to wear them, and when i do im frowned upon whats with these people eh!
