Medical Process
Hi all,
We have finally been invited to apply for Residence following my partners job offer,
We are in the process of completing all the paper work including medicals.
Our question is can anyone clarify what we need to provide for the medical as we have read different information is required.
1) Can we do the blood tests prior to the medical, (to save time).
2) Do we need to take a copy of all our medical records.
3) How long does it take to get the results back.
We have already had our X-ray's done.
thanks, Martin & Mel

Re: Medical Process
think the bloods, urine weight, height blood pressure etc has to be done by the panel doctors team. They should tell you when you book what you need or just give them a call

Re: Medical Process
Hi, we had ours done this week.
Doubt you can have the bloods done first. It has to be done by an outfit authorised by NZ Immigration so you'd need to make a visit anyway and could get confusing as to who is signing which forms - your own GP won't do it unless authorised. Takes 7-10 days to get results but likely to be less for you if you already have your x-ray reports and they are only waiting for blood reports.
You don't need a copy of your medical record but women over 25 need a copy of their last smear result. GPs will provide this - some charge for the photocopying, some don't
(I work in a practice that does NZ medicals)

Then the bloods were taken across town and again they checked ID with passport and filled out their part of the form and signed. Finally we went back to the doctor who did his examination and once the bloods and x-ray came back he checked over and signed the whole thing off.
So basically it all has to be done only by one of the listed medical practitioners and in a controlled manner. Sounds complex but we did ours in wellington a month back and it was really simple.
1) Can we do the blood tests prior to the medical, (to save time).
No
2) Do we need to take a copy of all our medical records.
No. But they may be useful if there are any issues/abnormalities identified by the panel doctor to provide further detail to INZ.
3) How long does it take to get the results back.
Ours took 48 hours and were posted online, but I think that is only available within NZ. When we enquired locally here in Bristol we were quoted 10 working days max.
Good luck.

Re: Medical Process
just a query
you did get the xrays done by an NZ authorised clinic? if not then you are going to have to have them done again as they will only accept results from authorised clinics.

Re: Medical Process
Hi,
Thanks for all your information,
We have had our x-rays done by an authorised NZ radiologist so that should be ok, on the blood test side we have been informed that we can have them taken prior to the medical by a NZ approved Practitioner to save time but we are going to check with the GP prior to make sure.
There doesn't seem to be a list of actual requirements so it is not totally clear.
thanks again,
Regards
Martin & Mel.
