Manuka trees/bushes.
If I chop the tops off manuka trees and bushes will they regenerate new growth or remain sticks and twigs ?
We have some tall ones that I want to prune back because of their height.

Re: Manuka trees/bushes.
My first thought was to get stuck in and prune the manuka to bits. However on reflection I think it would depend on the maturity of the shrubs/trees. I have young manukas which I lightly clip and they come away quite well. Manuka can be grown as a hedge which my neighbours have done with some success ( they keep it clipped to about 2metres ) My concern would be cutting into older plants which may not be so forgiving. You could maybe try growing something to cover any twiggy/exposed tops? Something like NZ clematis could work. Sorry not much help But it's a great question.
