Yeah, govt should be providing more support to businesses, so that they are able to require same for Customers, e.g. bars, restaurants etc. if they wish

It will be an interesting one, as many of the hippy dippy antivaxxer types are employed in those sectors.

Yes. Does seem so in a way.

My pal works at a special needs school . apparently several of her colleagues are anti this vax believing it alters dna. We dropped around for a visit a couple of days back and a couple of the houses up their way had anti-vax & protect freedoms signs on their fences.

The problem with the world now, is that social media has had a massive polarizing effect on large sections of society.

The gullible are now either 100% right or 100% wrong, and whichever camp they are in, the other camp are the enemy and should be treated as such.

Right, so those fabulous teachers or health care workers that cannot have this vaccine due to "medical reasons" will now no longer be able to do the job they love

Anti vaxxers ok, but on medical grounds? When there's a shortage of these workers in this country?

I accept its a tough one, a really tough one. But those that genuinely can show medical reasons why they cannot have the Pfizer, this is harsh! I hope they can have the AstraZeneca or the Janssen since they've been given the all clear to use "finally".

Dr. Bloomfield seemed to indicate the medical exemptions would be available and those workers would also need a role review (presumably to make sure they aren't likely to be exposed.)

That's good if that becomes the case. I'd be amazed if something like this wasn't in the pipeline.

No they haven't! Sorry, couldn't resist it.

People are struggling to synthesise and understand new information as it becomes available with context. They hear things like "the virus has a high breakthrough rate even in the vaccinated" but fail to understand that the vaccine is still very effective.

One issue we have is media continue reporting daily case counts but it's a less meaningful measure as vaccines are rolled out. Hospitalisations and deaths are a more meaningful measures of success now.

There will be somewhat of a natural selection process, those who wish to remain as die in the ditch anti COVID vaxxers, pose the greatest threat only to themselves and won't pose too much of a risk to those that are vaxxed. Others will likely retire or resign, like this dude:

https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/hea...y-for-teachers

If people have genuine health reasons not to get vaxxed then they probably would have to consider options for redeployment to back office roles or take alternate precautions. Health & Safety staff will have a field day and will see an explosion of jobs in that space.

for teachers in their code they have to adhere to, like the health sector, to do no harm.
If you arent vaxxed & you infect child/children you have done them harm.

Hopefully the EL teacher has not infected the 6 kids in her classroom bubble.

I'm double vaxed and I personally think the pros for me outweigh the negatives.
Big pro for me is the travel.
I can understand countries not letting you enter if your not vaxed. that's the rules to enter a foreign country.
I think its a bit wrong forcing people to vax for jobs in your own country. I can understand working in care or health care system as your working with vulnerable people with weak immune systems.

I don't think its the tits in the education sector that don't want to get vaxxed are a problem to the kids. the anti vaxers are a drop in the ocean in the education sector. There is currently 200k kids isolating in England covid related. If your a mature teacher in your late 40s, 50s and vunrable you would need to be a idiot to put your self in that situation in a classroom with 100s of kids every day. its not the Kids that are vunrable it's the other way round.

Like a says you would need to be a clown to not be vaxed and go to that everyday.

thats a good way to look at it, but I don't think it just the older teachers but all of them. Long Covid is still a thing for breakthrough infections
