Language requirements
Hello everybody,
I lost my New Zealand permanent residency a year ago because I had to
leave the country and my visa expired. I got it through work by the way.
I'm planning on submitting my EOI to apply for PR again. I have a sufficient
number of points but English is not my native language and I'm afraid it might
be a problem since I did not have to pass the IELTS test in the first place.
After I left New Zealand I’ve lived in the US so English is the only language
I've been speaking all that time. Will it be enough to prove in the EOI that my
English is fluent as required? I've lived in English speaking countries for 5 years.
Thanks,
Postaronnim

Think I know the answer to this. If I'm wrong someone will correct me I'm sure! In the EOI (and ITA) it will ask you to state how you meet the minimum requirement for English. You will be able to tell them that you have resided in an English speaking country (the US) for 5 years (you may need to prove it but presumably it will be covered in your proof of employment history anyway). Of course it will help that you had PR for NZ before.
By the way, your English is better than mine and I'm a native!

Hey Markk,
Thanks for the quick and helpful answer. I appreciate it.
Hopefully it'll work out. I hate the idea of taking the IELTS exam, hehe.
