kids & long haul flights!!
Hi all!
In 2 weeks, my husband & I are flying to New Zealand with our 2 boys (5 & 10yrs)
Has anyone any advice on how on earth to keep the kids amused during the flight? I could always resort to tranquilisers but I don't think I'd get away with it!!
We will be flying via Hong Kong there & via LA on the way back.
Also, do we have to book & pay for the showers in Hong Kong Airport?
Thanks in advance for your replies,
Cheryl x

Are you flying with Air NZ? Most aircraft now have TV screens on the back of seats, they have a games console too. I'd pack them a book & maybe a travel game. They will usually be provided with an amusement pack by the cabin crew. I'd pack their pyjamas & favourite bedtime bear in hand luggage, so you can get them 'ready for bed' & hopefully they will sleep for you
I haven't travelled via Hong Kong so can't answer that question. All the best.

All I'd add is get some activity/sticker books for the 5yr old, and some small *new* toys that can be opened at the worst points in the flight. Might want to get some ear plugs too....
BA do a decent kid's pack with a mini-Gameboy like thing.
The AirNZ one is more basic but still useful.
Good luck

How long do you have in transit in HK because if you have a good few hours to kill, you are allowed out of the airport. You just catch the train from inside the airport and are in the centre within about 20 mins.

try phenargen - buy over the counter at chemist. In the right dosage (as advised on the packet) it helps the little ones sleep by making them drowsy.
Trialed this with my 18 month old...this was prescribed I should add....and she woke up more than ever

Unless your kids suffer from hyperactiveness, they will be fine. What's harder than eating, sleeping, watching movies, playing Nintendo...

Excellent idea about pjs, then it will be time to sleep! It just might work.
