The money (via VISA) for our ITA has been taken - should we expect email conformation that we have been assigned a Case Officer, or should we be patient until 1-3 months have elapsed as per the NZIS site
many thanks

You can use the NZIS website, branch pages to monitor the progression of the paperwork. There is generally a post such as "for the week of 21 April we are processing appications received up to..." You can also look at the statistics and check how many applications are on hand by month. You can then determine whether in the future processing times may become longer or shorter.
So, be patient like I said before. Keep researching and planning.
