Hi all
Can any one suggest a website/ insurance provider to get home insurance for our house in the UK? (Now occupied by tenants)
We have a UK bank account but live in NZ. The online enquiries and forms we have tried (individual companies as well as the comparison websites) require a UK address for communication, even for a quote.
Any advice is gratefully received.

I've sold the house now but dealt with Olga Lee at UKInsuranceNet. They were fine with me being an expat landlord and when I made a claim, they handled it with very little hassle and made the payment. Got some money back when I cancelled during the term.

Very happy with their service.

We have lived overseas for 20 years and rent our house out in Essex. We have buildings insurance only with "More Than" (it is up to the tenants to arrange for their own contents insurance).

The first time we took out the policy we arranged it by talking with one of their customer service reps by phone, to make it clear that we were not in the UK but our rental home is in England. However, they do send renewal letters etc. In the post but only to a UK address, so we just have them sent to my mum's in the Midlands and she forwards them on to us.

Btw we haven't made any claims on the policy, so can't vouch whether how good or bad they may be.

If you already have insurance on it just speak to the existing insurers to change it to one that covers you as a landlord and the property as a rental.

At the moment we have landlords insurance and buildings cover through our rental management company. It was just easier than sorting it all out separately which is the way we did it the first time we rented it out while here in NZ.

Thanks all. We went with MARAS. Had to do it over the phone (Direct Line allowed an online application but wouldn't process payment)
