Red face I moved from the UK to Tauranga, NZ

And have been here for around 8 months.

Happy to give any advice to any other people considering Tauranga as their end destination!

Hi Everyone,

I am living at the top of Ohauiti Road.

Not really got into the a big social scene since arriving here. Been busy with buying a new house etc. It's amazing that when I lived in London I used to go out all the time (everything used to revolve aound the pub!) but here it's completely different. Miss the banter but not all of the unhealthy living!

Have a few Kiwi friends here in Tauranga, but not quite the same as having some good old poms around the place!

Hello Paul,

Right.......no doubt the start of many questions.

1) Do you have kids that go to school?
2) Where would the best place be to live if we are working at the Mount?
3) Can you recommend any holiday sites nearby? Looking somewhere to stay when we first arrive.

Nici

Hi There,

1) No kids yet.
2) If I was working at the Mount I would probably live in Papamoa becasue if you live in Turanga you would have to travel across the bridge every morning and traffic may be an issue. Depends what sort of hours you work. Papamoa is close to the beech and there are some now houses down there. The main draw back about Papamoa is that the deveopers have gone mad so lots of building work at the mo. Space is at a premium (the houses almost touch) so not much in the way of a garden. I like my space so that's why I live out of town.
3) When we first arrived we stayed at Tauranga Tourist Park
9 Mayfair St, Tauranga

To be honest alot of the holiday parks are good. You can get some good cabins. I have heard that the TOP 10 caravan park in Papamoa is good too. Depends if you want to stay central (Mayfair st) to Tauranga or be close to the beech (papamoa)
