How far do your NZ wages stretch?

I agree with how much food prices have gone up in the past few years. I posted on another thread - FMCG - that is the industry that pays $$$$.
Having been in the industry for 20+ years (7 years in another industry in the UK), I can also say, turn your focus on the suppliers that provide the goods, don't just blame the supermarkets. Sadly, they're all multi-nationals. I doubt Coca Cola Amatil USA gives a shit, nor Nestle Switzerland, nor Kimberly Clark Aust.

There are lots of budget suppliers which supply ALDI and others. Why not buy there? I known for a fact that these suppliers don't asked for exorbitant prices. They sell for very similar prices world wide + shipping. Very easy. Just do a tender and choose the cheapest.

Sorry, I can't speak for fresh goods, only packaged.
Although, unless my in-laws are liars, meat is cheaper here.

Assanah - I would like to hear more about how you know things can be supplied at a lower cost. Seriously. If you do, then you'd be in demand.
Please let me know.

Just to qualify - Assanah, it has to be brands. That is what the consumer wants. Anybody can order a pallet of random baked beans. Won't sell as easily.
