Help needed from truckers in nz
Hi all,
I'm currently a trucker in the UK wanting to come to nz. I've been doing containers for the last 7 years and would like to carry on doing this in nz preferably the north island. Can anyone help with advice on which companies employ from the UK?
Did you need to travel to nz to get the job? Or did you email and Skype?
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Re: Help needed from truckers in nz
Morning from a frosty New Zealand Grant.
As far as I know truck drivers/heavy goods drivers are not seen as being in shortage here in New Zealand at the moment , which has hacked off a few companies who have relied on using cheaper overseas workers.
What it means for you though is that a company cannot hire you unless it can prove there is no NZ resident or citizen that could do that work or be trained for that work.
There is an exception and that is when the company is what is called an NZ Immigration Accredited company. So. To try to gain a job offer from overseas it will need to be one of those companies.
There is a list however hopefully someone can think of some of the bigger names for you. I will try to remember.
Please note that as trucking is not seen as skilled by NZ immigration, this cannot lead to you becoming permanently resident in New Zealand, unless you are perhaps a specialist tanker driver or a manager of some sort.
The most it would be is a temporary work visa which would match the length of the job contract. i.e. 2/3/5 years.
