Default Hello

My husband and I are just starting the process of immigration.

Rob (my hubby) is an Electrician, and we have discovered this is very desireable in NZ.

As a result this means that I have to also move (well I suppose so), and therefore need some help regarding employment.

I am a currently a health, safety and business risk consultant, just about to move back into Health and safety managment (timing ey). Ive been told that I wont have any trouble getting a job - but I find this hard to believe - any advice would be most welcome.

Also, where should we live? We currently live in Herefordshire a very rural area 7 miles from a city that has a population of 70,000 - this we like and enjoy living in the country but close enough to some civilisation.

We are both in to motorbike trail riding so the great outdoors is one of our main reasons for the atempt to move across.

Any advice would be more than welcome - and we look forward to hearing from you soon

Cheers

Ems and Rob

Hi guys welcome to the site. I used to live in Herts and Cambs and emigrated to NZ 3 years ago. We live in Nelson which we love and used to live in Welly but found it to windy. Any specific questions fire away

Where to live, that's a biggie. Like most of us you will probably end up where the jobs are, but it doesn't matter where you live, it's all good.

Welcome and enjoy

Hi Guys

Well we have been having a nose on the net and getting more information.

Obviously we would have to go where the jobs are, but Nelson and Wellington seem to be quite nice - can anyone give us a bit more of an insight into these two places?

Many thanks

PS Rob asks are there any electricians on this forum who have been working in NZ for a little while - could do with a bit of feedback on what its like to work out there.

Many thanks

Hi,

I would suggest you start a new thread in the main forum and ask for electricians to come forward and ask any specific questions Hubby has relating to that.

Also start one asking about Nelson.

There is a Wellington thread on the main forum started by Simon Markellis, should be on page 1. You can add some specific questions to that - there's a huge possy in Welly on here who would be more than happy to help I'm sure. Thread here http://britishexpats.com/forum/showthread.php?t=550930
