I doubt the new owners will restore that wooden heap - it's more likely that they wanted the land to build a modern monstrosity on or even a block of flats.

I don't know what the deal is with Heritage properties but I imagine it will end up like this one: Take a tour of the extreme makeover house | Stuff.co.nz which appears to just have retained just the original street front for appearance and then has the super modern / glassy house behind the facade.

One day in the future, it will be considered to be the craziest example of the run away Auckland housing market.

Interest rates are only going lower and the LVR buffers have only delayed demand that is now coming back, this may well appear a steal shortly.
