We used them for our Canada move , wouldn't use them.

At one point they couldn't tell us if our container was in Toronto or Montreal. We are still not sure if it actually did get pulled for customs inspection or if they were lying to us.

Friends over here also used them , they completely screwed up packing their car , customs couldn't get to it to inspect it , delayed them by about 5 weeks

Don't touch with bargepole is general consensus

We used Pickfords. They came and took 3 days to pack our stuff in the Uk - they packed it very well and were very friendly guys. We had to stay in storage in the UK for several months before shipping. Estimated time to ship was 10 weeks but it arrived in Lyttleton way before the estimated time about 6 or 7 weeks I recall. Then Pickfords here delivered it to the house and MAF turned up the same day and asked for certain boxes to be opened for checking, mainly garden stuff and bikes and camping stuff. We never had a any probs with them so we have to speak as we find. That is our take on it anyway. We had a couple of quotes and they were not the dearest nor the cheapest - they just seemed the most professional and we used them because they had pickfords here in Christchurch and the transition was all done with firms under the same umbrella and was not being dealt with by a different firm this end. Hope that helps.

We used them. In, packed, out, in a day.
Delivered when they said they would, no damage. Tracked the ship by internet. Willing to negotiate once we had other quotes.
Can't personally fault them.

So far, so good. Ask me again in 9 days time when it's been delivered... One of the cheaper quotes (and they do "end to end" UK to NZ which hugely appealed), packed and loaded in 2.5 days as indicated, volume estimate spot on. I have a delivery date and a MAF inspection at house date. So far, it's all been pretty much as indicated and no issues. Fingers crossed it continues that way...

we used them Jan 2004 for Ilse of Man to Hamilton NZ, it cost but were very reliable but were pushed for time at the end of the third day packing and didn't do such a great job with the final lot but nothing damaged. Left IOM 9th Jan, went to mainland UK then onto NZ arrived our house Hamilton 2nd or 3rd week March. No hassle. Am looking at them at mo to take us back!

We used Atlantic in England, but they used Allied Pickford over here. Had no complaints with them. Quote was competitive and nothing lost or any major damange. Just a cheap clip photoframe was cracked.

Used Allied Pickfords, very friendly and efficient in packing!!!!!!!, unfortunately due to inappropriate labelling of boxes customs hit us with a large bill - labeled 7 boxes of childrens toys as Christmas decorations as they put a santa toy or christmas toy in each = cost $40 per box for inspection.

Also completed customs clearance forms incorrectly which cost us 21 days storage costs. Repeatedly resubmitted forms with same error each time even when told by customs exactly what was required. Customs officials were very helpful when we rang to find out exactly what was wrong and repeatedly informed Pickfords of what was needed on our behalf. Naturally this cost was not born by Pickfords but by us poor mugs. Very polite but inefficient,

For a company who specialise they were not very knowledable.

Would not use them, but if you know the pitfalls they can be avoided.

Used Pickfords a few years ago for a move from the UK to france and found them to be excellent. However I have been trying to get a quote out of Allied Pickfords for our move to NZ for about 6 weeks without success. Utterly hopeless and will most probably use someone else. I CANNOT ABIDE people in business who don't return phone calls or emails - sends out entirely the wrong message and is incredibly rude. Rant over.

We have been having different firms in for quotes over the last 2 weeks. Been told that Pickfords are slowly selling the business off and some parts of it have already gone. Pickfords is only a franchise and dont use their own staff.
Had a quote from Crown of £3990 for sole use of a 20' container door to door.
Got another today from Doree Bonner of £3350 door to door.
That includes all the packing etc.
Enquired about insurance and been quoted around £600. Dont let them quote you on the square footage of what you are taking, only on the value of the contents.
Crown are worldwide and have their own depots in NZ. Doree Bonner use Grace removals in NZ. They both slated van lines.

Both very efficient when the reps came round. On time, courteous and answered any questions.

Had another quote of £3250 from International removals but they couldn't even be bothered to come round to the house and see anything. Just asked me what i was taking and sent it via e-mail. Yea, right.

Hope this helps

We used them to move from Wales to Auckland. We also needed them to store our stuff in London for a few months before sending it out to Auckland. We found them very efficient and friendly. They packed our entire house up in 1 day. When it arrived in Auckland absolutely nothing was broken. Shipping time was also quicker than they said it would be. Quote was competative as well. They also gave us a good children's book explaining all about moving to another country (I have 3 & 5 yr old). One year on and it's still one of their favourite books!
