Following on from Genesis' post...
what age were you when you emigrated to New Zealand?
I have met quite a few expats since I came to NZ and they all seem to be a little older than I am. I was 27 when I moved here with my family 5 years ago. I haven't really met many people (expats) who are my age and wondered if NZ tended to attract people mid 30+, although I have a few kiwi friends my age now.
Just wondered out of curiosity from reading Genesis' post about the main reasons for coming to NZ

I was 34 when I arrived.
When I was 27 I was still climbing the corporate ladder in the UK. Started to burn out when I was 30, so I guess your 30's is a good age to start evaluating your life and making life changing decisions.

Was 39 and 3/4
No way could we have made it here any younger, bearing in mind the economics of the world have a huge bearing on the timing for peeps of our era. We bought our first house in 1990/1991 just on the cusp of recession and went through the whole negative equity thing and were paying >15% interest on the mortgage.
It took many years to get on an even keel again, but diminshing interest rates did help us pay our mortgage of more quickly as we had got used to paying the high amount, which added leverage to our equity and hence affforded us some freedom to start looking at other options.

Thankfully I had bog all when I got here so had nothing to lose!
I came over with a backpack and about $3000.
I took a years leave from work, got my WHV, then stayed.
It seemed like a good idea at the time

I was 38 when I arrived. You know how it is, you meet a kiwi on holiday, like them, decide you may as well have an adventure and before you know it you've unexpectedly moved to the other side of the world and are settled into a domestic life 5 years later That old chestnut
At 27 I was going to Glastonbury, partying too much and generally behaving like I was 10 years younger
