Default Earthquakes again.

Awake again thanks to one, I'll be grumpy(er) all day now. Situation is silly, mostly I blame the government of course. How can we live in a world which can ensure the complete destruction of man kind but we can't ensure that a man can get a good nights sleep in his own house? Madness.

Aargh it woke me up as well, it was a 5.3 out near Rolleston. I sleep through most of them now but that shook the place a wee bit
I don't blame the Government, I blame Mr S. If he leaves Chch the quakes get bigger again... without fail I'm going to chain him to the bloody house

I'm not good if I don't get my sleep!

Kinky and niche, good work. Christchurch could be the San Fernando valley of New Zealand.

Just out of curiosity, has anyone considered a hanging bed that just rocks when a quake occurs, would it work?

Well it looks like the earth could still be moving for me when i come over for a visit in a couple of weeks (doing a trip of the top of the South Island starting and ending in Christchurch). I have already been over 3 times on holiday and although there must have been earthquakes going on i never felt a thing...... looks like that might change.

I was in Sweden years ago and saw a bed in a furniture store that hung from the ceiling by heavy ropes, but yeah, I was thinking a hammock would work nicely, rock you to sleep like a baby.

Call it experimentation. It could be fun and if it stops the bigger quakes then everyone's happy As for San Fernando Valley? I'm not sure anyone would find it that 'exciting'.....

Mmmm could be quite alarming during the bigger ones. Would probably result in seasickness for the smaller ones-much like when an aftershock is calming down and you feel like you're on a boat on the sea.
Problem is that the structure the hanging bed is attached to will be moving around

Sounds like our whole house - it's on piles, so it doesn't crack, the whole thing just sways. If it wasn't scary, it would be quite relaxing!
