Default Dubai Airport Hotel

We are flying to NZ with emirates & have to change planes in Dubai. The flight from Manchester arrives at 00:25 & flight to Auckland departs about 10 hours later.

Has anyone had a similar wait in Dubai & has anyone used the Dubai International Hotel for a quick sleep between flights?

I have read a few travel forums which have stated the airport transit concourse area is has too few toilets & is also very noisy.

We have just a few months ago and found it well worth it. If you book direct with Emirates then you are entitled to a free hotel, but this is outside the airport and you would have to go through security both ways and then travel to a hotel so would get very little sleep.

The hotel in the airport cost us about £150 but was well worth it, especially with a tired 3 year old with us. Someone met us at the gate and escorted us to the hotel. We would definitely so it again and got about 6 hours sleep doing this. It really made a difference on such a long journey as we don't sleep too well on planes.

we use it everytime we fly back and forth and would highly recommend, make sure you get the voucher before you fly from your agent and emirates or you will have hassle when you are there, also need a short stay visa which will be part of the voucher.

We flew to NZ with Emirates in business class and were entitled to a free hotel (I think this also applies to economy). However, the airport at Dubai was absolutely heaving and we couldn't even get out of the airport. There was no-one with a good enough understanding of english to tell us which way to go to get out so after about and hour and a half trying....we gave up and stayed in the airport Luckily we had use of the business lounge with showers/food/drink etc. Our stopover was 11 hrs at Dubai and even if we'd got to the hotel we would probably only have had about 3-4 hrs sleep.

I would definitely check with Emirates and get a firm answer on what to do when you get to Dubai about getting out of the airport.

Emirates were absolutely fantastic by the way.
