You will probably need to provide proof of your work experience. Can you provide pay slips, contracts of employment etc? If so, it may count. You probably need expert advice.

At the end of the day, it comes down to your NZQA accreditation. My Masters with a research counted because it was directly related to my job. If your research was based with an agency or employer then ask them to provide a letter supporting your time there. It does not need to be long, less than a page confirming dates, times e.g. 100 days at 5 hrs a day and the nature of you role. If you are not sure, email NZQA. If you are getting your qualification accredited for any NZ agency, make sure you check exactly what they need. Get lots of certified copies too. I have had to supply sets of my documents to NZQA, Teachers' Council, Immigration (three times), and Novopay, argh!
