Play safe and get your insurance company to provide proof of NCD.
Take plenty of document copies.....
A contacts list so you can inform of NZ address.
Letter from your GP if you are bringing prescription meds.

Brilliant ~ thanks, although cannot get NCD from insurers as we have a motor trade policy. Will I need a letter from GP if I have my file?

Re: Documents to bring?
I was so disorganised when I came, didn't bring even half that stuff.
I didnt bring:
Gp or dentist files - never needed them here but then there was pretty much nothing exciting in my UK ones anyway.
Bank statements
References
Payslips
No claims evidence - got this straight away with AA insurance when I arrived, they just asked if I'd had any accidents in the UK and took my word for it.
I've never actually needed, or got asked for, any of the stuff I didn't have and I survived with no problems so I'm sure you'll be fine

Agree with everyone here - there are many aspects of your life that are literally starting again! These include doctor, dentist, and your car insurance. Car insurance is not compulsory here so it is cheaper anyway but also there is a great deal taken on trust as others have said. Banks don't care about your previous banking history as they want to see NZ payslips.
We brought things like dog micochip information and our erm divorce papers from previous lives. I'm sure you won't have anything like that though
Good luck

Yes.....customs are very fussy about prescription meds. When your container arrives you will have to fill in a new type declaration form where you really put your but on the line regarding any spirits or meds. The new system has been recently introduced as MAF and Custom realised they were wasting time inspecting UK immigrants container cleanliness. A copy of your doctors letter will go to Customs.

Re: Documents to bring?
Haha that list is getting shorter and shorter.
Written references don't mean zip, so not worth the paper they are written on. Kiwi employers generally will only want verbals with your last boss.
Nobody ever wanted to see a payslip or a bank statement from the UK ever, why would they? Generally people only want bank statements to prove your salary is being paid in for credit referencing. As far as credit referencing goes you are starting again, there isn't any history to check.

Thank you so much everyone! Getting a bit more organised now. Packers coming on Wednesday so didn't want our vital paperwork sailing on the ocean when it should have been in my luggage. Bought myself a rather swish document case today for said items ~ any excuse for shopping
