I am currently living in Cockle Bay and due to the recent loss of my best friend, (she returned to the UK) I am at a complete loss without her
I have been trying to find a job since January and despite a number of interviews, I am still without work. All my other friends are working full-time, hence they are unable to catch up during the daytime. The days are just endless and I fear loneliness is taking its grip. I am in my mid-forties with fairly grown up children (and I use that word loosely!) Please if there's anybody out there that feels in a similar situation or is just seeking a little friendship, to meet up for a natter and pass the time over coffee, Please get in touch, my sanity is in your hands!

Sorry to hear about your friend going back to the UK, its hard enough to make friends in a new country, so extra hard I guess when the ones you make leave ![Thumb Down](https://britishexpats.com/forum/images/smilies/thumbdown.gif)
I work full time so cant really help with your lonely days... but just a thought, have you looked to see if there are any local coffee/book groups etc? Or a fitness group? Different ways of meeting people who also are free in the day and keep you occupied?
All the best

Sorry to hear your friends gone back to the UK, its hard to make friendships here so losing an established one is a big loss.
I work full time but do 12hr shifts so I'm often free during the week. I do live over in Mt Eden though but I'm sure we could work out a half way point if you fancy it.
I've also started using the Meet Up groups, you can find them pretty easily with a Google search. There's a huge variety of groups and meets all over Auckland, people of all age groups and circumstances use the groups and so far I've found it to be a really good way of getting out and socialising.

Not sure if you will pick this up in time but a bunch of us who have met via this site are heading into Auckland Viaduct etc today to grab a late lunch and then settle in somewhere to watch the game and contribute towards the govt's alcohol tax targets. Both boys and girls!
Drop us a Private Message if you pick this up in time and I'll let you know specifics.
Happy Trails!
Craig

Thanks for your replies and advise, I sent a couple of PM's to you and thanks for your invite Craig but I unfortunately didn't catch it in time, hope you have an enjoyable evening. Is there anybody else out there in the local area, if there is, I would love to hear from you
