Wink Deductions from wages

Hi
I would like to get an idea of how much take home pay I will get each month. Obviously in the UK I pay NI and tax on my wages, what are the compulsory deductions in NZ?

My salary for nursing will be approx $50 000 so a guide on percentages for tax/NI equivalent would be great thanks!!

Hi,

You'll net from NZ$50K NZ$38,670. On the first 38K you'll be taxed at 19.5% and on the next 12K you'll be dinged for 33%. Also add in 1.6 % for the ACC.

No, it isn't a huge salary, but it'd be a pretty solid pay packet for many Kiwis.

Accident Compensation Corporation.

If you break a leg or have some other unfortunate accident you can go to hospital and get fixed up and your hospital fees and subsequent physiotherapy will be covered as well as having 80% of your salary paid to you by ACC if you have to take time away from work to convalesce.
