I scoff at your whitetails
Just threw another mouse out. This time it climbed the curtains. the girl held it in a fold of curtain as I ran for a bucket. Mouse fell in bucket, end of story.

Today I was out on Matiu / Somes Island with a largish (26!) volunteer group. The ranger introduced us to a couple of Giant Cook Strait Wetas. I couldn't pass up the opportunity and got to hold the famale. She was MASSIVE!!! Only just fit in my hand - not just palm of, fingers too! And I stroked a gecko, just like velvet.

I shall ask at work tomorrow. I didn't take my camera but there were some shutterbugs there. You just want proof, don't you?

Speaking as a true arachnophobe, I have to say that I have seen less spiders IN the house than I did in the UK. However, OUTSIDE the house can be a very different story after dark. Simple, stay in house after dark!

I send hubby into the garage at night for the firewood!

The only spiders I find in the house are the daddy long legs - think pin head with long legs... easy to suck up in the vacuum never to be seen again.

Watch out for these also:--

The said daddy long legs, allegedly has arsenic in its bite
