Re: Course fees for international students
It's a 3 year full-time course. There are 3 on-campus weeks a year and the rest is done online and 1 day a week in a local school.
This might be too long for what your wife needs. Have a look at their website http://edlinked.soe.waikato.ac.nz/ as there are shorter courses (PGCE equivalent etc).
One thing I would say is apply early. I didn't find out about the course until the end of Nov - applied but all the places had gone. 130 people were after 70 places. I found out last week I got a place from the waiting list fortunately.
It's also worth getting references before you leave the UK. Although they ask for specific reference forms to be filled out it would be useful to have something to enclose in your initial application. I never got replies to my reference requests from the schools I'd worked at in the UK so ended up using last minute contacts/teachers I knew personally, but this all took time waiting for the schools to reply.
Massey University in Wellington also do extramural teaching qualifications. www.massey.ac.nz

Hi
I think it's great what you are all doing. If we ever get to NZ I too have been looking into further education. I fancy doing something totally different but not sure what yet. I've got my Catering quals and my Business quals but now feel like a whole new career.
Good luck to you all hope eveything goes well

Hi Dave,
Just thought it might help to let you know that we arrived in November on two year work to residency visas and our daughter starts school next week, (classed as a resident for education purposes).
As long as you have a student visa in your passport you should get the NZ resident fees
Good luck with your course

Re: Course fees for international students
I've received the forms from studylink about my student loan and it has been granted - just to cover the cost of the course - don't know about childcare yet.
You can apply online www.studylink.govt.nz
