Citizenship timing 2012

Went to our Citizenship ceremony yesterday, there were 518 of us from 65 different countries. It was great and I am proud to call myself a New Zealand citizen. I know it is not everyones cup of tea, but we had a blast
It is five years and 17 days since we migrated to New Zealand and although we have had our ups and downs during this time, this was definately an up for us.

Congratulations Nero
How did you manage to have your paperwork processed and go to a ceremony only 17 days after being here 5 years? Please tell us your secret!
We were told we couldn't submit the application till the 5 years had passed. Then most people on this thread have taken 3-6 months to get citizenship.

Cheers - you do not actually have to be in NZ for a full year (for the 5th year) as long as you have been in the country for something like 260 days. You can check whether you meet the criteria by going to http://www.dia.govt.nz/web/cctool.ns...nship?OpenForm Hope this helps

OMGoodness thank you so much for pointing this out to me Nero
I've just worked out that we have been here over 240 days this year so we could apply now
( and not wait till the 5 yr anniversary in October)
