Change of 'first entry before' date
Hi All,
My husband and I have been recently granted work visas for 5 years. He has a job offer in Wellington and I have work visa as his partner. The issue is that Immigration New Zealand has given us 9 February 2018 as the 'first entry before' date. My husband is in a managerial position and his current notice is a minimum of 3 months.
His likely starting date in New Zealand was specified by his new employer letter towards the end of March 2018 or beginning of April 2018 (depending on the visas). We don't understand why we have been given this date which is impossible to meet under his current contract.
Does anyone know the process to get this 'first entry before' date changed or knows of any similar cases? Do we have to re-apply for the visas?
Thanks you very much in advance for your help.

Hi
I think the only option you have is contact Immigration direct and ask them, at the end of the day it is going to be their decision if they will alter it

3 months entry window is standard protocol for temporary visas. Permanent visas give a 12 month window. Not much you can do other than apply for a variation to the entry date expiry or re-apply so the replacement work visas have a later window.
Normally immigration would only approve a variation in essential situations so not convinced they'll approve but you'll never know until you apply.
