Does anyone know if you can open a bank account from the uk with an overdraft limit in place for when you arrive?

Re: banking queries..
If I was a bank I wouldn't. You are normally limited to 2 deposits and zero withdrawals until you validate the account with physical presence and id in NZ.

Hi there. I've split this out from the mortgage thread it was in so the subject isn't buried.

The bank would probably want to be able to assess your credit worthiness before extending you a line of credit such as an over draft. The bank would probably want to see, 'the colour of your money' before loaning you theirs !

we arranged over the phone as much as we could, then on day 1 went to the bank to sign everything, however I think it was another pay packet or 2 later before they'd agree to any kind of overdraft

ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm its probably none of my business, but are you planning on emigrating to a new country and requiring the use of an overdraft as soon as you get there?
