The 'C' Word

My cheat to good mincepies is to buy that weird stuff that passes for mincemeat here (the tubs) and add in: chopped cherries, sultanas, dates, toasted nuts, stem ginger (if you can find it, otherwise candied peel) and boost the spice mix also. I used to make my own but I can't be bothered in the heat. My second cheat is to get my husband to make the pastry and the kids to assemble the pies. Works for me.
I can buy clotted cream from New World here now and proper double cream from countdown. Such an improvement on nine yrs ago.

'Aunty Betty's' brand mince pies seem to be the best of the worst.
I have a small iced Christmas cake. However, Christmas cake with chocolate icing just isn't my thing.
I love cold single cream on hot Christmas pudding. Clotted cream or whipped double cream on a scone with jam, yes please.
I'll be making a sherry trifle to eat for pudding on Christmas Day. Whipped cream on the Christmas eve pavlova. Christmas is still yummy, even in summer !

Yes, Lewis Road. I can finally make truffles again! I couldn't stand using that nasty cream thickened with gelatine.

How could you? I was going to knock the world off its axis on Christmas day by going braless. I thought I'd look the bee's knees in this.

I've got a brand new pair of jandals that I've been saving to wear on the Boxing Day picnic. Snazzy eh ?
