Thanks.
It looks like the prices (in Auckland) seem slightly cheaper than here (Wellington- Cool Britannia) Heinz Baked Beans over $5. Ridiculous. However. personally I can't stand/tolerate canned Oz (most Watties ranges) and processed foods in NZ.
I am not very keen to stay in Auckland at all... but going there for my parents for quite a while...

Know what you mean about the Watties range. We find Oak beans to be a better choice for us and cheaper too.

It's not that difficult to learn to prepare good food quickly and easily. Local ingredients are excellent.

Re: British groceries
true?
have never tried Oak beans. except crap Irish Stew... (no plan to try anything further ... have had enough crap here... )
sorry. I am a hard person on food(wise)... especially coffee...
By and large Poms make positive comments on NZ coffee --. (not myself)

On UK, I don't think you will find the coffee good there - certainly not up to NZ standards - the last time we had an American applying for a classics position they came over to try the coffee beforehand - and said it was as good if not better than in the State.

Re: British groceries
You seem to be particular about processed food...but real food?[/QUOTE]
To be honest, I crave/have that Brit foods every now and then. Certainly not every day (except British tea and hot beverages). But I love love Walkers Crisps (salt and Vinegar) with a pint of Guiness... god.. can't help.
I usually have fresh meals at home made of the local ingredients. Veggies are excellent in NZ. Having health issues, trying to avoid any canned or processed one or even eating out.
