Cool Brit couple new to Wellington

Hi All

Iv been lurking on here a while now, asking a few questions as we worked through our travels and options, but i never said a proper hello to you all.

My partner and I have just arrived in Wellington after spending the past 4 months working at Whakapapa ski area. Prior to that we spent 3 months in the Coromandel.

We have been traveling on working holiday visa's so far but we are determined to make NZ our new home. My missis, a secondary school teacher, has recently put in her NZQA assessment for her skills. I have a career in banking at management level and am currently looking for work along the lines of bank retail branch manager or sales manager as they appear on the skills list.

We have spoken to 3 different migration agents so far and to be honest have had a different story off all 3. Points quoted have varied between 70 and 125 and advice has been anything from "apply now with a EOI" and "you have no hope".

I would be grateful of any advice you can give us, good migration agents, where to have a good Christmas day meal in Wellington (very important!) or any other tips about this city you think we may find useful.

Cheers

Adam & Nicola

I personally would say before paying out for migration agents try the EOI online yourself as it could save you lots of money. My husband, already working in Wellington, has found the immigration office, Willis Street on corner of Manners Street, staff very helpful when he has had a query. You can just pop in and wait to talk to someone.

Hello and a big welcome to the New Zealand section of BE from the Consierges in Spain.

You will find excellent information in the BE Wiki, not forgetting the Living and Moving Abroad forum that will help you, another set of great help is the permanent threads at the TOP of each forum, they are very pertinent to that particular forum and makes sensible reading.

BE Moderators deal with any problems that arise such as inappropriate posts, spammers etc, you will find their names at the bottom right hand side of each forum's index in bold font. Also there are Consierges who can support and guide you.

Please contact me if I can give you any further help.

Hello and welcome to Wellington. We never used an agent as we found the process very straightfoward so I would give it a go first but it might be quicker with and agent. Good luck with whatever you decide
